Following the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix, the FIA fined Ferrari 30,000 euros after Lewis Hamilton was unsafely released from his pit box on Lap 20, striking a mechanic who was knocked to the ground. Of the fine, 10,000 euros was suspended for 12 months on the condition that Ferrari submits a procedural review report to the FIA within 14 days. The stewards found Hamilton not personally at fault and issued no sporting penalty against the driver. The FIA has since declined to clarify publicly why the penalty guidelines, which point toward a driver sanction, were not applied in this case.
