Verstappen signs Red Bull contract extension through 2030

F1 · statement · 2026-08-20

Max Verstappen has extended his contract with Red Bull Racing through the end of the 2030 season, the team announced on 20 August 2026 ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, his home race. The deal replaces his previous contract, which ran through 2028 and carried performance-based exit clauses that had fuelled speculation about his future. Verstappen: "I am really pleased with the contract extension. We have the best people and I'm excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again." The announcement lands in a season where Verstappen is winless so far and sits P6 in the drivers' championship, having narrowly lost the 2025 title to Lando Norris by two points. It also comes as this weekend's race is set to be the last Dutch GP held at Zandvoort, with Verstappen saying he hopes to "give the fans a special send-off for the final race."
