Nashville race shortened by heat; Palou wins 5th of 2026
IndyCar · story · 2026-07-25
IndyCar officials announced on Sunday evening, July 19, that the rescheduled Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix would be shortened from 300 laps to 225 laps due to a forecast heat index exceeding 115 degrees Fahrenheit. The race had already been postponed from Sunday to Monday after severe weather (and a World Cup Final that ran to extra time on FOX) forced a delay. Alex Palou won the shortened race on July 20, his fifth victory of the 2026 season and 24th career IndyCar win, extending his championship lead to 83 points over David Malukas with six races remaining.
