Nashville engine-rule grid penalties: Lundgaard, Malukas

INDYCAR Officiating issued nine-position starting grid penalties to Arrow McLaren's No. 7 (Christian Lundgaard) and Team Penske's No. 12 (David Malukas) ahead of the July 20 Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway. Both cars had received new Chevrolet engines following a July 8 team test at Milwaukee Mile, exceeding their 2026 season allocation in violation of Rule 16.1.2.3.2. Malukas had also crashed heavily in opening practice, missed qualifying entirely (Conor Daly qualifying the No. 12), and started last in the 25-car field. Despite starting 24th and 25th respectively, Malukas recovered to finish third and Lundgaard also charged through the field.
