Aston Martin debuts 16-part B-spec AMR26 in Budapest

Aston Martin introduced a 16-component upgrade package to the AMR26 at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix, representing the largest single-race upgrade in the team's 2026 season and effectively a B-spec car. FIA technical documents confirm the changes include a longer, more slender nose, a completely new floor, revised sidepod inlets, and multiple revisions to the rear of the car, including a re-homologated forward chassis. Adrian Newey, who described the season start as a 'nightmare,' characterised the Hungary package as 'just the first part' of the rebuild, with a Honda power unit upgrade expected at the Dutch Grand Prix. The debut was disrupted when Lance Stroll suffered a left-rear suspension failure on the upgraded car after just 11 laps in FP1, forcing the team to fly spare parts in from the UK overnight to allow both drivers to run the new specification in qualifying.
