Antonelli 3-place drop for yellow flag breach

F1 · penalty · 2026-07-25

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli was handed a three-place grid penalty and one penalty point after the FIA stewards found he failed to slow sufficiently for yellow flags in Q3 at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix. The yellow flags were caused by Max Verstappen spinning at the final corner late in the session. Telemetry showed Antonelli lifted briefly but the stewards ruled the reduction in speed was 'insufficient and unsustained,' constituting a breach of the yellow flag rules. The penalty dropped him from an originally qualified P4 to P7 on the starting grid.
